Per BBC link: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-59897918

The tennis star has a track record when it comes to questionable scientific claims.

In his book Serve to Win, Djokovic described how in 2010 he met with a nutritionist who asked him to hold a piece of bread in his left hand while he pressed down on his right arm. Djokovic claims he was much weaker while holding the bread, and cited this as evidence of gluten intolerance.

And during an Instagram live, he claimed that positive thought could "cleanse" polluted water, adding that "scientists have proven that molecules in water react to our emotions."

According to Dr David Nunan, a senior researcher at the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine at the University of Oxford, "on the balance of probabilities it is highly unlikely that such claims are true - at least not by current conventions of scientific theory and practice."

There are lots of otherwise intelligent people who believe whacky things. I have a cousin who was an RN for many decades, but refuses to get vaccinated for pretty much anything. She is retired now and posts about the healing powers of crystals of Facebook...go figure.

The only good thing to come out of Australia are koala bears, love them so adorable,so cute.but even they hide in trees far away from the general population and to think that Australia was discovered by a Yorkshireman, what the hell was captain Cook thinking!

Yorkshireman…..📖

The first documented landing on Australia by a European was in 1606. The Dutch explorer Willem Janszoon landed on the western side of Cape York Peninsula and charted about 300 km of coastline.

You do realise this Forum that your probably viewing on Australian invented WIFI is Australian.

His scientific claims really are moot, the only thing that really matters is the validity of his visa application in relation to the rules and frankly anyone who isn’t Australian probably won’t understand the reasoning behind a lot of our entry requirements.

Back in the 90s my dad came back from New Zealand with a pile of NZ clover honey as you couldn’t buy it here at the time and I’d loved it while on holiday. Customs found his 4kg of sugary contraband and he was in deep shit for two days for failing to declare it, eventually getting a bill for its incineration. He was a citizen and they treated that smuggled honey like it were a brick of blow.

If you sneak in a wooden souvenir, or your pets as Johnny Depp did, you may find the government have them lined up for execution if they’re not promptly removed. Much like the Pistol and Boo saga where people overseas were thinking “those Aussies are such big meanies not letting too small dogs in” it’s not really for anyone else to decide our border rules, it’s just up to everyone who wants to visit to abide by them.

I wasn't the least surprised to see the people where I live cower in fear as soon as their TVs told them it was the thing to do. I was surprised, however, to see how subservient Australians were. Always took them for a more independent and robust group. I guess that was just because the TV told me they were that way. Go figure.

To the original question, while I don't believe in vaccines that don't work or masks that haven't helped, I do believe that people get to set the rules for their own homes, businesses, and countries. If you need a vaccine or a mask to visit, comply or don't go. Seems pretty simple. No exception should be made for someone just because he's the best in the world at something that really doesn't matter.

Mate you’ve read too much nonsense on Facebook and it’s rotting your brain, Australians have been doing better than most the last two years, here in QLD we had basically no cases, no masks, no restrictions and just normal life as Covid was kept out. Try to not speak for countries you have zero knowledge about at all.

This sounds like he was fined for Non declaration by Quarantine 😗

Johnny Depp brings two dogs into a country that is free of rabies and many other diseases and doesn’t declare. 🤦
Could have declared the dogs sent them to quarantine for a few days and had the shots and tests and all would have been good.

Now with Swine Fever it’s $2600 for a piece of pork and Visa cancellation for not declaring. You declare it you get a thank you as it’s popped in the bin…😁 Not hard

Barnaby is a tosser but he explains it relatively well in a minute here.

What fascinates me is people can reject transparently collected data that shows the same things in multiple countries that clearly show effectiveness of certain measures. I do not understand why people will pick and choose what to believe based on politics and then hold weird beliefs that completely contradict other beliefs they have.

On the other hand a certain Eurasian country puts a lot of effort and money to create these things and split other nations to make them weaker....

It’s the only Queensland I’m aware of yep, we opened our border once we reached vaccination targets and had prepared our healthcare system to handle the case load in mid December. That’s why we’ve had 8 deaths thus far, while Alabama which has a lower population than QLD had 16,624.
In our bodies, immunity comes from infection. Isolation only delays that process. If your infection rate has really been that low then so is your immunity. Best of luck in the coming weeks/months. I mean that.

When was the last time an athlete of his stature and accomplishment was disliked so much? In Tennis, you can point to Jimmy Conners, McEnroe, Agassi and maybe even Ivan Lendel as players with many detractors. Most of them eventually learned from their experiences and won the public over at the end of their careers. Heck, McEnroe whom I hated as player, is a great television analyst and personality. None rises to level of disdain there is for The Joker, I literally can’t Bring myself to watch him play. Maybe, he’ll eventually come around like others have in the past, only time will tell.
For clarification, it's not about his personality. I just dont like the way he plays tennis. There are far more beautiful players out there who played much more exciting and elegant tennis. Djokovic is like a machine. But Federer is much more of a artist.

I also like Messi more then Ronaldo. Jordan more then LeBron James. Phil Michelson more then Bryson Dechambeau. Madonna then Britney Spears.

Yes, you get immunity from infections, but immunity also comes from vaccines. Hence why people don’t get smallpox or polio anymore. Please keep the thread focused on the topic of discussion, which is not immunology.

That’s why we’ve been exposing our entire population to the virus in the form of vaccines, with now 87% over 16 having had two doses, and we should be near 95% by the end of January.

This is not true anymore, as no Covid vaccine provides immunity. The CDC had to change the definition of the word because of that. Polio and smallpox vaccines do provide immunity. Please try to keep misinformation out of this thread.

Oh mate you just need to go back to Facebook at this point you’ve let infowars and Joe Rogan rot your brain to the point that there’s nothing left.
