Not sure how this Novak issue will pan out but it seems that those with money can enter and leave countries as they see fit whilst the rest of us do our best to follow the rules. I see pop stars and other celebrities appearing today on a beach in Miami, a week or so later Mexico, then on an Australian beach a few weeks later, the gossip columns seem to indicate that politicians around the world can do as they please again whilst the mere mortals follow the rules.
As soon as you introduce rules people with money find a way to flout them, at least that is how it seems to me.
Is Australia doing the right thing with Novak, yes, but should others who spending their lives jetting round the world and have flown in to enjoy the Aussie sunshine have been treated the same way in the preceding weeks or months, probably.
Credit to Australia for standing up to a sporting superstar who doesn’t appear to have followed the rules but I wonder how many celebrities have slipped through their vaccination net in the previous weeks and months?
