If there’s any silver lining, at least for us over here in the Ununited States, it’s that we haven’t completely cornered the market on asshole athletes and politicians.
... it becomes career ending depending on the level of perceived transgression.
It's wise to remember that to almost everyone, perception is reality. In this case, the reality is the reality. You don't have to look hard or dig deep to discover Djokovic broke all kinds of rules.
IMO, the only thing remaining is for the PM to decide if he wants to (correctly) deport this person and suffer the financial and political hit; or if he is willing to turn himself inside out and let him stay, suffering only a political hit (from a different angle).

I guess we all have a scale and we all break rules. There is driving 31 in a 30 and there is smuggling 1kg of heroin into Singapore at the extremes. Each has consequences of varying degrees. My reference to perception was not to imply no rule was broken - it was more looking to establish the level and the penalty. For example breaking lockdown rules and hosting a garden party pre-vaccine and only a month after leaving intensive care following a Covid near death experience while being UK prime minster might show a lack of care for others or a skewed understanding of the risks :0)
Back to Djokovic. Being out in public when covid posative (unless carefully returning home after a posative test) is one thing and very bad in my book. Trying to circumvent rules to avoid compulsary vacination is another. There are a percentage of people (another example below) who are vaccine hesitant. I am not condoning that postion but I guess that has created this situation. Djokovic is currently being allowed out in public so one hopes he is not considered to be a grave risk to public health. The new laws and lack of exemptions have driven the flawed behaviour to a degree. Public / media opinion after all the health emergency rules is also a strong factor on how he will be dealt with.
I bet when all the politicians fly in for a big international conference there are special rules for them / direct cars from the airport etc.. who fills in the visa for for Biden....In the same way F1, tennis, football etc could be considered an international circus so a special case as well maybe?

Is vaccination compulsory in Serbia? I don't think anyone is forcing him to get vaccinated.
Yeah, we get it. You think we should cut Novak some slack. Special treatment is ok because he's a celebrity. What he did isn't so bad. You made your point many times already, but almost nobody agrees with you. I don't think whataboutism is going to help. It really doesn't matter what politicians do, we're talking about a tennis player.
I assume it would prevent him competing in some countries - hence driving bad behaviour to get round the rules which is the root of the problem.
So the requirement that a country makes to have people enter, is "driving" his bad behaviour? 🙄
"Honest Mr. border officer, if it wasn't for those pesky import taxes driving me to smuggle in this expensive watch, it would have never happened, so really it's your fault."
Honestly, you should be his publicist/apologist.
You keep mentioning the bad behaviour of Boris and crew (seems to be the real purpose of this thread you mention it so often) but then blame Djokovic's bad behaviour on a policy he refused to comply with, and suggest we can cut him slack.
You complain about double standards and promote them at the same time. 😕
Oh I know, you are just putting stuff out there to promote conversation and exchanges of ideas...I keep forgetting that...
