I've been wearing a San Martin "bb54", that I bought just to try out the size. I have a 6.8" wrist that's flat, so a lot of watches can work. but this 37m size works. Off to the AD in the next few days to take a run at the Tudor BB54. They've got one on bracelet in stock.

preferred not to play the waitlist game, grey it is. not bad for a 4 month old watch, and cheaper than retail. now for the uncle seiko bracelet to arrive...

For people that bought the BB54 on the steel bracelet and are interested in also buying the rubber strap: the first information found online was that one would not be able to use the clasp of the steel bracelet - that is not entirely true. Only the gliding connector is different. On the german Uhrforum somebody posted the order number for this small part (I can‘t link to the post as I am unable to re-find it in the 100-pages thread):

32-34190
57€

Rubber strap black
218-643 170€

You will need springbars with 1.6mm diameter for the rubber strap instead of the 1.8mm that come with the steel bracelet.

This might be old to some, but I know not everyone has Instagram and/or follows True_Patina (Greg) on there. I have shared his mod before but he’s recently taken it further by fitting new hands, I believe he did something with the bezel, Rolex crown, Rolex clasp, but most recently he fit an acrylic crystal to it to round it off.

This first pic is before the acrylic crystal was installed. But it’s the clearest shot I could find to show the hands

That mod looks really good. I especially like the lollipop second hand. (do the minute and second hands seem just a smidge too long?) Any idea where the hands came from...are they the 1953 Invicta handset? A red triangle on the bezel would be the cherry on the cake! Thanks for posting it. (I don't have any social media accounts so I would have missed this)

Dear Owners of a BB54.

I have question: what are your thoughts regarding the 'new' BB54 monochrome?
From what I have read and see online, this model could be the closest one to a vintage tudor submariner without having to break the bank ( for the record I already own a vintage rolex submariner 14060).
Thank you for your inputs.
I wish you a great day.

Can’t ask for thoughts without first sharing pics 😲😜

You are right. I should have added pics. I guess if you change the snowflake for the mercedes one, this could be a hit. But then I might ( probably) wrong.

Get the 54 on rubber if you are interested in comfortability as your main objective. Mine is on rubber and it feels amazing all day everyday. With the right spring bar tool (the nice ones) you can change to a leather strap and have the most vintage, comfortable, versatile looking diver on the market.

The thinness, the on the fly adjustment, and the rubber strap just make for an exceptional wearing experience.
Thank you for your advice. I think you are right. The rubber looks really cool. For some the reason, Iamnot a big fan of the jubilee. I think it is too bling bling. I have asked the watch shop if I can change the handsets with the mercedes one. I think it could make the monochrome more 'special'.

For Tudor, this watch has already been a hit. The original 7922 from 1954 had Mercedes hands:

But don’t hold your breath they will ever return to that. From 1969 on, Tudor has used the snowflake hand, so it’s deeply part of their design. For Modern Tudor to use Mercedes style hands, they would be directly competing with their parent company Rolex, which won’t happen.

Don't think a Tudor AD or boutique will do it.

You are right. I didn't made the connection with the sub.
Maybe better ti stick with the snowflakes and change bracelet.

I agree. Iam not going to the Tudor AD or boutique in Monaco. The reason is very silly: both Tudor and Rolex have the same AD. After a nice first contact regarding an explorer ( got it in 2 weeks), I have received a cold shower on the second contact. I don't like when someone tells me: ' we will contact you if we allow you to spend your money on our product'.
