Is it suppose to look like this brand new?
Will it not affect the locking mechanism?

Edit: it's deeper than it looks

I only buy what鈥檚 in the red box myself 馃槈

for those who are into knives would someone able to point me in the direct of a nice pocket knife that doesnt break the bank but looks vintage? or what is considered the rolex of knives
I carry a Case Trapper on a daily basis, I've been carrying it for the past twenty years or so and have gotten plenty of good use out of it. It sharpens up nicely and holds a pretty durable edge. Mine has stag stocks like this one here:

Some years ago I sold a small collection of antique parrying daggers and stilettos. This one was my favourite - a 17th century left hand large parrying dagger, 37 cm blade with pierced section and three fullers. Both sides of the blade were serrated for 17 cms. The down swept squared and flared steel guard had crosscut rondel terminals, and pierced thumb guard. The spiral wire binding on the hand grip was original, with a steel turks head pommel. The overall length was 51 cms - almost a short sword.

It was a very well made dagger, and now I wish I still owned it, as its proportions, quality and balance were as good as I had seen.

Sweet! Love Spyderco. Does it run as smooth as the videos show?

Yeah, the fit and finish seems very nice. With the interior balisong components, it's heavy, but that makes it feel really good in the hand. There's no blade play at all once's it's locked. It makes very satisfying noises when you flip it and lock it. I'm not particularly great at flipping balisongs, so I can't comment on how well it flips vs. a traditional balisong, but I love how rock solid it is.

Not the least interested in knives from a collectors view but I do love and have need for a good tool. As I am out and about in the woods and in the archipelago, harvesting what goodies there are (game, fish, mushrooms, oysters, silence, etc) a quality knife is essential. I go for rugged, multi purpose bushcraft knives. Scandinavian "Scandi" cut/grind blade with a strong spine (to be able to whack it hard if needing to split something) and yet subtle and realtively small to be able to do some finer work also. Here in Scandinavia we have long tradition in making and using this kind of knife and I am faithful to the tradition - in using them.

As I have a couple of different environments I go to I use two knifes.

...snip...

In short - I am not into knifes. But I could not live without.

I will quote myself from page two of this tread... written ten (10!) years ago.

Oh little did I know. As always when I get interested it soon gets serious. I believe I have got about 75-80 SAK: s now. All bought locally and not from collectors. This is a cheap hobby and storage space is not an issue.

Here are some samples.

The real Swiss Army Knife (that is - made for and used by the Swiss army). 1908 model but this one is from 1941.

Model 234k Bgl from 1946-1951

Late 60ies "Champion A" 246fmaU

Early 70ies 235kma "small mountaineer"

Late 60ies "Kadett" 2233 r+

I could go on forever - so here are some random pictures to round it off for this time...

So much for not collecting knives...
