Anyone buy a Zenith Sporto and get a Hamilton?

A few weeks back we were waiting on a shipment from fedex. It contained some pretty heavy medications for my dad who was in hospice.

fedex reported it delivered. It took 2 more days to find out it was still on their truck. The frightening thing is that it contained a box of 100mg fentanyl patches. The idea they randomly delivered it to the wrong address was crazy. The fact it didn’t need to be signed for was crazy. The fact it was still on the truck 2 days later…. Luckily a local pharmacy filled and delivered the prescription (which I had to sign for).

I give a lot of slack to shipping companies especially with the increase in deliveries since the start of the pandemic. It still totally blows when things don’t come where or when they should.

I hope your watch turns up, hopefully not in someone else’s eBay listing.

Resolution:

So we are now resolved. eBay owned up to the fact that the mix-up occurred in their global shipping facility (I am shocked they admitted this). And both the zenith buyer and I were issued full refunds including taxes and shipping costs. The seller was dogged about pushing eBay on this and she walked away a whole without being out a penny either. I have to give it to eBay on this one, once the seller talked to a live person, they didn’t balk.
I gave the seller my personal email (took a pic of it had written as eBay doesn’t allow you to send personal info in their comm’s), and she gave that to the Zenith buyer. He has reached out and asked I ship the zenith to him and he would cover the cost of shipping (he’s in Ontario so it will cost a little money). As he rightfully won the watch and was also screwed in this, I am happy to send it to him.
I asked in return that he follow up again with DHL on the lost/mis-delivered package and if it does show up, he extend me the same courtesy of sending it to me,

So- not a bad outcome. Holding on to hope a little that karma works in my favor, but not holding my breathe.

@JwRosenthal wow I am surprised ebay owned up. Sounds like the best possible result short of receiving your watch that you could have hoped for from a terrible situation. Fingers crossed you get your watch!

It was the best outcome- everyone got their money back/ seller didn’t lose any money from the sales. It shows how things can go once you get past the automated shit and can explain the situation to a live human.
I am bummed of course. Losing a vintage watch in shipping isn’t like losing an Amazon package- you can’t just order another and you know whomever got the package has no clue what they have. Or looked them up on ebay and we will be seeing it pop up again. Keep eyes peeled for a Hamilton HTC with foggy crystal and missing a pusher coming from Canada. 😡
