Wear carefully among a rotation. Store safely away from direct sunlight and high humidity. Avoid water.

Realistically, just don't wear it.
Store it in a museum standard preservation vault at a constant temperature / humidity.

Just wear it as @AG77 suggested.
There will always be a risk of scratches/dings/water, but if you're careful (not paranoid) it won't be an issue.

Buy some polywatch for the inevitable scratches you'll get on the crystal. Just having a clear crystal goes a long way to keeping a watch looking good.

Wrap watch and arm in bubble wrap. Get to pop bubbles when bored and protect your watch

Welcome!

The fact that you're concerned with being a good steward is a sign that you're on the right track.

If you plan to store your watch for any length of time, I recommend making sure to keep it with a silica gel desiccant packet or two, just to control for any fluctuations in humidity, since older watches are often rather susceptible to moisture ingress.

I hope you enjoy many years with your new old watch!

My advice is not to take close-up photos of your watch, best in fact is to use a lens of 1.0Megapixels or less. Photographers who can never get a watch in focus are helpful too. We get some posting here, particularly with a uncle's or grandfather's watch to sell 😲

Do proper servicing 5-7 years, keep it away from water and humidity, be careful going through doors, and most importantly -- enjoy it, wear it, and understand that it's going to get some scratches no matter what you do.

Never swing your arms when walking. Also turn your wrists so the watch faces inward toward you, not a brick wall etc.
