The rolex small crown has been a dream of mine. It is one of my grail watch.

Saw this listed below, and thought it is still in very affordable range compare to the 5513 being sold by dealers. Does anyone think that small crown rolex is not getting much love? seems that dealers here in Hong Kong has told me that the size is smaller and does not get much attention compare to 5513. Where gilt 5513 is being sold at 25-40K :O

Some polish, and what look to be some service parts. Seller is Menta - from what I’ve seen, he typically lists his pieces in less good condition on eBay and not his site. IMO this 5508 looks to fit that pattern.

Ya, but all is relative to the prices. I remember when it was so hard to search for one during 2017-2018 and terrible 5508 listed at crazy high prices. I think prices have definitely already corrected a bit. but this watch has some charm

Would you mind posting some pictures of the watch? With links only and without local copy this thread will be quickly worthless...

But this is an auction in progress, with 4 days remaining at this point. So discussing the current high bid of $13k seems irrelevant. That's not an asking price.

Anybody see this other 5508 on the bay? The red triangle insert looks suspicious to me, and it looks like one of the rep ones from vietnam (as the second pic) Which makes me think twice about the dial... especially the fonts. Attached a HQmilton pic with a similar serial for comparison. Please advise.

Don't buy from any HK dealer that has told you that 5513 is more valuable (though it is smaller) than a 50s sub. Small crown is a grail watch for many collectors. Last one with red triangle insert, box and tag sold at auction May 2019 for 500,000 including premium. Any correct 5508 worth owning is easily a six figure watch (well, pre-COVID19 anyway)

The lume color is not very appealing IMO
This is the watch in question. Pretty honest IMO. Specially for 13G

To be honest, I think the lume is ugly on this one
I’d much rather have a nice 5513 than such a 5508 for the same price

Edit: especially for the 29k$ it ended up reaching

I feel that they are two different watches, while encompassing the same history and DNA. The 5513 has more of a rugged look and a manly presence. But the small crown is more on the dressy side, and truly a fitting watch for a suit or a tuxedo (james bond style). I have owned both a small crown and 5513 before, despite not the best example, i always feel that a small crown sub is my dream watch and i always hope to buy a good example this time around.

Edit: I am surprised it fetch a good result as well. I guess the market is staying strong.
