Thoughts on this 1940s Angelus (and 13ch 28.9 watches in general)

Hit by the bug over the past month like a brutal storm, and have been drawn to these old Angelus / Omega 13ch 28.9 watches.

As I'm new to this game, I'd love to hear thoughts on what I should be looking for or any gotchas. I've seen comments such as 'not to wear daily...' etc, but why? Is this a pipe dream and with all rationality I should chase a more modern solution to this limerence :) ?

With the watch below, I've never seen this colour before (usually I've seen red/blue text on the light faces). It's on for €2600.

    Huge thanks in advance.

IMO ....Redial ... print on the sub dials, print on logo is off center and too thick. Tachy scale is classic redial. Antimagnet.?????The whole thing is not unattractive but it is not original.

I'm going to disagree and say I think the dial looks superb. Here's another one that didn't hold up so well. I'm not a big fan of those chintzy lugs, and the price is a bit high, but I think it's a nice piece.

General thoughts? Don't see very many around. Towards the smaller end of the chronograph size scale. Love them.

Lemania movements are high quality, don't know if I'd wear daily, plus with vintage one has to always factor in the waterproofness of the watch.

Nice dial, mediocre hands and case, rough movement. I’m going to assume it’s only 34-35mm, although the OP didn’t mention the size.

Overall, it’s an acceptable piece at the right price, which would probably be well below $2k USD for me. There are plenty of nice small two sub-dial stainless column wheel chronographs out there.

In the $3k range, I would hold out for a jumbo SS piece.

    Please enlighten me.
    Lemania 13/Omega 28.9?

The watch pictured does not have one.
It appears to be an Angelus cal 215?
For reference, here is how a Lemania 13CH looks like:

    The subdials sure look iffy.

Did you look at the subdials of the watch in the OP? The print doesn't fill out the space fully, looks like someone used a wrong template.

Ah I see what you mean, it does look a little odd, more space or more of a bevel in the subdial depressions than there should be. But I think the dial template is identical to the other examples I posted. I think much more likely a factory issue than a redial.

I still think at very least some retouching has been done. Logo and subs.

This is why I love the debate over dials. It's all about connoissurship and ultimately a matter of opinion. You've changed my mind and whittled me down to about 95% certainty that the dial is original. If it's a redial, my offer of employment to the artist still stands... a really superb job, and I think a highly improbable effort for such a low-dollar piece. Can I at least convince you to reconsider this one? Crummy photo, I know, but I think there's enough there. If this one is also a redial, I would have to attribute it to the same rare talent.

This one i have zero issue with. Logo is finer and registered, Subs are perfect, patina is even and appropriate for its age.
