The Tag Heuer Carrera 1887 is the one that got me started into mechanical watches a few years ago, before I discovered Omega...

I have a Carrera. It is the watch that got me into watches. Nothing inherently special about it from an engineering or aesthetic point of view, but I still smile when I see it sitting in with the rest of my assortment.

I’m on the hunt for a gold Series 1000, should anyone have one...!

I've always loved the look of a lot of TAGs and the brand has a great history with some truly excellently designed watches. Today, though--and admittedly I don't have a lot of hands-on experience with them--the ones I HAVE handled don't impress me much. I know someone who was recently loaned a current Carrera chronograph model (brand new) and the way the chrono second hand herked and jerked all over the place was shocking to us. This is a $4,000-something watch (MSRP, anyway) and was certainly not impressive and certainly not good value. Still, I like several of the Heuer (not TAG)-branded vintage-inspired models. If the Autavia had a slimmer bezel and was priced at $1,000 or so less than what it is, I'd be tempted to grab one. As is, most TAGs I find appealing are priced at a point that I'd rather just buy another Omega or something else if I'm spending that amount of money.

I have more Tags/Heuers than omage - I ‘love’ both brands and tend to alternate between the two with watch purchases. Overall I have to agree that some Tags are a bit underwhelming and don’t feel quite as ‘high quality’, nevertheless I do really like the Monaco and Carrera ranges, especially the vintage reissues. Incidentally there are 6 chronos in my collection. 3 Omega and 3 TH/H. The one which has ‘wowed’ me with the smothest chronograph seconds hands? Well I was surprised too, but it is not made by omega.

I've not owned a Tag for some time, the last one was an Aquagraph and I think the quality of their dive watches has went down hill since then.

Only one Carrera calibre 16 here but my very first automatic watch.

Wouldn’t mind to get a nice vintage Autavia 😀

I've always liked Carreras. Having owned many TAGs over the years, I'm really impressed with the Autavia and how good their in house movement is.

I tried this on last weekend at my AD. What a fantastic piece, I like it better here with the strap over the bracelet, which combined with the polished case, was a little bit too "blingy" for me.
