Reviving an old thread to post about my recent acquisitions - an Orient King Diver and a Seiko Champion Alipinist. I was under the impression we had a Seiko thread here (but I couldn't find it).

So, looking at this Pogue for sale on WUS, I can't help but think the Serial # looks a bit suspect... anyone else agree?

It says the watch is a March '71 issue, yet it might have the 70M Resist dial but doesn't have the notched case, which I think would be appropriate...?

I've got a thing for the 7a38, started by reading a damn article on the friggin internet - http://www.fratellowatches.com/tbt-seiko-7a38-chronograph/

The world's first day/date quartz chronograph, they say...

Seiko did the first bloody everything! (ok im being controversial but...)
We Could play the first Ever... SEIKO edition

So we have first ever quartz chrono (WHICH I KEEP TRYING TO STEAL OF PEOPLE ON EBAY TO NO AVAIL! they just never go "unnoticed")

we of course have your rather lovely "The world's first day/date quartz chronograph, they say..."

The Seiko 6139 automatic chronograph is believed to be the first automatic (self-winding) watch worn in space. It was worn in 1973 by William Pogue on an eighty four day Skylab mission. (SORRY SINN!)

One of the 6139... (tho not the same model..)
