A lucky find. '67 Lord Marvel Hi-beat Seahorse.
Not a Grand Seiko but the finish on this could pass for one, its incredible.

Just added a lovely Lord Marvel 5740c to the collection from a fellow OZ member, KS45 next on the cards and then a GS61 to finish.
How did you go with the KS45? Love to see some shots of the LM.

Update - things have gotten a bit Poguey since the summer...

Left to right, in the order acquired:
  • 2001 SKJ076 - my first proper watch that I bought; I loved the titanium look and feel though it's a bit dated looking now. I recently had a new battery fitted so it's usable for more than a few hours
  • 1987 7a38-7270 - picked it up by chance at a watch fair last year after reading the Fratello piece. The crystal has a small crack and it got a bit steamed up when wearing it in the summer so I guess it needs a case back gasket at a minimum.
  • 1975 (May) 6139-6002 - got it a few months ago via WUS and have since put on an UncleSeiko Stelux style bracelet, which feels great (nice and weighty - highly recommended). It's a lovely watch and in great condition.
  • 1969 (July) 6139-6000 - pretty rare, and it looks like it all stacks up - notch case, proof case back, clean looking 6139A movement inside... Itcould do with a service, I think, and the bezel is on crooked and the crystal is a bit scuffed, so it's going to get a bit of TLC. Watch was acquired head only so I had put the H-link tapered bracelet that came off the other Pogue when I swapped it for the UncleSeiko bracelet, but the end links on the H-link are a bit misshapen so I've stuck it on a Toshi strap that I had kicking around. I think I'll be getting a solid link UncleSeiko for this fella too.

I've bought Swiss watches in Japan. Does that count?

To be honest, I normally skip threads about Japanese watches, but...
Two days ago, I bought this Seiko on the flee market. What cought my eyes was that it was manual, which is quite uncommon. I hope I did good, I paid 20 euros and it works faultlessly.
My first steps in the world of Seiko's since I was a teenager...

I don't know about that specific model but Seiko's are pretty much bulletproof and IMHO underrated in their quality and finish.
From the serial number I think you have an April 1974 build watch and it looks in pretty good nick. I'd say you've got yourself a bit of a bargain at 20 Euro.

Wouldn't go so far as to call myself a "japanese watch collector" as these are the only 2 japanese pieces i own, but perhaps the only 2 pieces i need?
