Antiques fair

I went to an antiques fair today in hopes of finding a few vendors who sold watches, as I haven't found many stores locally on the Gold Coast, AUS. Luckily I did - two older gentlemen who were more than happy to share their knowledge and experience and even were even impressed by what I knew (I guess I hang around here and other forums too much!). Here are a few photos, will try for better ones tomorrow.

It was a good experience, and i now have a few contacts for vintage watches in the future. Both vendors had plenty of other stock at their homes and were happy to arrange time to view which was nice 馃榾 . The Tudor 7021 stood out to me, however i think the bracelet is faux (which the seller had said it was not original to the watch - what do you guys think? The same seller had a whole 9 drawer box full of dress watches he hadn't even brought out - ridiculous!

The girard perregaux guy had about 9 others of varying types + tudors and some high quality citizens (not sure what types though)

And the rolex you can see upside down is a red writing submariner that needed to have the original hands put back on it so was not for sale (and much too far out of my price range anyway!)

Looks like there were some good watches there. Nice Connie and sparkle dial in the first picture.

Was that Tudor a good price? They are pretty expensive at the moment.

Well done 馃憤 and great work on getting so many photos.

I haven't seen a haul like that in all my years checking antiques shops and fairs around Brisbane.
Even puts a window shop at Brisbane Vintage Watches/Vintage Watch Co to shame 馃榾

There was a bloke from the Sunshine Coast that I met at Nambour Antiques Fair once but he was very reluctant to pull any watches out of glass cabinets for me. Everything jumbled together and you could only guess what was in the mess.

From an uneducated viewpoint I'd love that snowflake.
Great to see a decent looking flightmaster and 2x 125's. Haven't yet seen one of those in person yet.

Might have to take a trip down to the glitter strip later in the year.
Skinter than a skint thing right now 馃檨

The tudor sub was $6500 aud - but i think the seller was willing to deal + lower of cash. I've only just started working full-time after uni so don't quite have the funds, but he said to contact him in the future and he'd hold out on it.

Yea this guys was from coolum, and seemed like he wanted/ was forcing himself to whitle down his collection somewhat. It was awesome man, there's another shop in surfers called 'Toledo' that has a variety of vintage watches but they seem more expensive (aka retail prices). But even the owner there was willing to pull a 1924 Patek Phillipe from the safe to show me, but i think he was more showing off!

The Omega quartz, blue dial in the picture with the GP month pointer was about $275 - you guys reckon that's cheap for a beater?

Well, the bracelet is fake. Period.
Anything else, I guess you do it on the Rolex sub forum but you are doing fine here..

Yea that was the first think i checked on the way home - what a wonder google can be. I was only worried as tudor 7021 are notorious for dial rot, and wasn't sure if this one was is supreme condition or a service dial, and what effect that has on value.

Also to ask another question, do you guys think the tudor prince is worth ~675 aud? I liked it but couldn't find any similar with the '25 jewels' on the dial online as a reference

Definitely a good price.
