Antique store find

Good morning all,

yesterday I was on the hunt. I came across a Facebook page for an antique store in my area and saw some pocket watches. A variety of brands like Elgin etc. wanted to make an offer but the lady there told me a buyer snapped them all up in one hit, but if I’m into wrist watches she would send me a pic of everything there. This is the photo

So I asked about the price on the omega. She said $265 for the lot. Couldn’t resist so I snapped it up. She is posting it today so we will see what we have.

from what I can see I have a pie pan in gold without crown, a couple of lady’s oris, a ladies tissot a trench watch and a bunch of no name or forgotten brands from yesteryear.

any comments on the omega would be appreciated. When I get it I will take better photos and open the caseback. Really want to know what crown goes with it.

this is the rest of the haul

Good buy if the bottom right lug on the omega looks good. Based on images. Looks like someone polished the crap out of it and rounded the top edge

worse comes to worse. You can fix it up and wear it or sell it for the movement/dial/back and you will get more than you paid

Black dialled ladies might look good with a lume touch up, polished and a black strap with white stitching

rest drawer fodder

That’s a good buy even on its own, nice pickup

Hopefully that omega is original writing on the dial. Even if the lugs are a bit distorted you could make it nice enough to wear. Worth a shot at that price.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that Record was gold too. Having a thin fixed bar is often a good sign.

Yeah I can see that the case has been polished really badly. If it is a solid gold piece, I’ll have it corrected. If it’s not then I’ll just wear it as it.

I hope the dial is original too. Can’t tell from all the scratching on the crystal and the lighting in the photo from the seller but when I get it I’ll send through some shots.

All good, I will just have to be patient and wait for it to arrive so I can check out the ref.

UPDATE TIME:

So the constellation is the gold capped version unfortunately. Some dial patina but it runs so I’ll be giving it a good service this week.

But a surprise that was in the haul was this GP gyromatic!!!

Good batch for this kind of price, congrats !

I'd like to see a wrist picture of the connie and the GP when you will have sorted them.

For ref, here is the link to the omega crown/glass list per model :
https://omegaforums.net/threads/crown-glass-gasket-list.81619/
If I'm reading correctly, it looks like a 42.005 crown reference is the one you need (& 5015 glass).

Out of interest… did the Record turn out to be gold ?
Ahhh yes it’s a solid gold piece. The main spring is gone and it’s due for service too.

Yes that’s 9k, 375 means 37.5% gold (i.e. 9/24). Scrap value for the case would likely be $175-200 so quite a nice little bonus. You plan on getting it serviced ? I hate to admit it, but I have a feeling I’d be scrapping it to pay for the work on the Connie if it was my lot.

If watches can work I do t part them out or scrap them. I plan on repairing it and wearing it.

I have many other watches in the pack that I’m going to sell off in lots to pay for the work. I have the 3 nice ones for me, some oris and tissot for the wife and the rest will be lot sold

All serviced and good to wear. The Connie has a correct crown on the way and will fit it once it arrives. The GP needs a crystal with a cyclops but I need to hunt for one.

not bad for $260 aud.
