• "Like most other American watch manufacturers, Elgin was keen to realize the marketing potential of a military-style wristwatch immediately after World War I, and introduced several models named for famous military men. This example model was named for U.S. Army General John “Black Jack” Pershing of World War I and was priced at $25.00 in 1919. - Source

• Looking a period ads, this round case is likely a "Foch" but the internet seems to lump them all into Pershings. Too many Generals.
  • Check out the ad, extoling the virtues of a wrist watch, a novel concept at the time.
• So vintage it's an antique (you get over 100, we'll upgrade your nomenclature)
• Super cool "ELGIN USA" star dial
• Serial number on movement decodes to a 1919 production date, this watch is 107 years old.
  • Movement is 7 jewel Elgin Grade 462
• Cased made in Toronto by American Watch Case Co. of Toronto, Ltd., gold plated.
• To be clear, this is a project:
  • Winds, runs, hands adjust.
  • Requires a service, missing crystal, crown is loose.
  • Gold plated case showing wear and the fixed lugs are ugly (see photos)
• On a single pass strap
• Came to me, as the good ones do, from a poorly photographed auction
• Over to you, dear new owner
