I don't believe it,
. I owned 100% original Cartier watches from the 30', 40' and 50', the print was sharp and elegant and with different fonts compared to this one, nothing to do with this sloppy 'Cartier'.
. Strangely, 'Cartier' is printed over an original Universal Genève dial, look at the archives, the space between Universal and XII is exactly the same as a 'standard' UG dial... Even in the late 30', when UG did some watches for Hermès, the dials were 'custom made', now suddenly for the, at the time, most prestigious jeweller in the world they would do some sloppy job, 'gettaouttahere'...😉
Attached is a photo from a same year original 1942 'Tank obus' watch, 'Il n'y a pas photo' like we say in France...

Hello F. Welcome back!

There is one possibility here you that haven’t considered. Maybe the ‘Crash’ dial guy came back in his time machine for a one-off custom job? 😉

Now more pics on the site (but no movement pics). Intruiging detail:

Received more pics. Indeed UG movement and Jeanneret case. Import mark LXJ - which is LeCoultre (while the 7090's in this thread have VXN which is Vacheron) so I think we can conclude that Cartier did not import these watches themselves.

Intruiging detail on some of the ones posted earlier in the thread is that they all seem to have damage on the same pusher. Maybe Cartier used them to apply their own number

Interesting Cartier with invoice. Dial may be original and if so we may have to change the way we looked at earlier ones. The Cartier print could simply have looked sloppy from the start

And another one emerged. https://bid.luxeauctioneers.com/lot-details/index/catalog/4/lot/200/Universal-Geneve-for-Cartier-18K-Rose-Gold-3-Register-Chronograph-Wristwatch?url=/search?page=1&view=grid&catm=2&order=timeleft&live=0&timed=0&regular=0&buynow=0&makeoffer=0&xclosed=0&featured=0&key=cartier

Put them aside. Serials very close. Both dials look off but in a similar way (and intruiging that one has compax and the other not)

I find it fascinating that you have unearthed a few ‘Cartier’ designated dials now in these Contax 12246 fancy cases.

If we accept these dials are legit (massive if) it makes sense to me that these potentially slow-selling ornate cases from the UG catalogue could be offered to Cartier on an exclusive basis, say, and be a far better fit in that particular retailer’s product line at the time.

Indeed interesting. For me the Cartier connection is undisputable but the question whether these dials really started their life as the ones in this thread is intuitively a no for me but as long as no convincing original one emerges we may have to accept they may be

Definitely cannot be a Contax with 5-digit ref. number…
Anyway, of the two, the 906480 looks legit to me, the other one has a dial which does not seem right (even just comparing details + comparing with archive)
