This is obviously a bit of a joke... However: 12494 is a known Cartier used reference. On the other end: I don't expect a 262.xxx movement to be found in a 1.296.xxx case

I got excited there for a moment until I realised that the extract was from UG rather than Cartier. Still, numbered lug looks promising.

Interesting one. Reference 12204. Serial 75x.xx2, which is - I don't think coincidentally - also the range of the LeCoultre Cartiers. Movement is described as a GP 281. Think this is a legit one albeit with a very poor redial. Estimate of EUR 6.500 - 8.000 seems optimistic. Interesting addition is a picture of a page from the Cartier book from George Gordon with a similar (ahum) watch

all rather simple dials with white background and one or two color print. back then cartier was not the king of dial quality in neither of their dress watches, but certainly this incursions in chronographie were either done poorly and quickly (maybe a last minute change said they had to read cartier on the dial and not the watch s manufacturer). Just curious about other inputs

Don't fully understand your question. I think these were 100% made/assembled by UG. Printing quality is not better or worse than any UG from that era.

Interesting Cartier with invoice. Dial may be original and if so we may have to change the way we looked at earlier ones. The Cartier print could simply have looked sloppy from the start

I don't believe it,
. I owned 100% original Cartier watches from the 30', 40' and 50', the print was sharp and elegant and with different fonts compared to this one, nothing to do with this sloppy 'Cartier'.
. Strangely, 'Cartier' is printed over an original Universal Genève dial, look at the archives, the space between Universal and XII is exactly the same as a 'standard' UG dial... Even in the late 30', when UG did some watches for Hermès, the dials were 'custom made', now suddenly for the, at the time, most prestigious jeweller in the world they would do some sloppy job, 'gettaouttahere'...😉
Attached is a photo from a same year original 1942 'Tank obus' watch, 'Il n'y a pas photo' like we say in France...

See your point. I'm not sure what the source is for the pics from the book. I was under the impression Cartier archives due to the similarity of the labels on some of them in combination with the style of the pics.
