Below is lot 229 from Christie's "Rare Watches and American Icons" auction. To my eyes, the sub-dials look rather unsightly but I have not examined many other CarCousals. Here is the information: http://www.christies.com/lotfinder/...6037&sid=68764637-1534-4c1b-858d-2a46d192b6ce Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I like "CarCousel." These threads offer some insight into a UniCartoultre or a Jaegevetier: https://omegaforums.net/threads/opi...al-285-lecoultre-cartier-and-universal.15000/ https://omegaforums.net/threads/rare-compax-model-chrono-made-for-cartier.13836/
Another 'nice' one Sold by Sothebys so it must be legit https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/auc...ecoultre-reference-7090-retailed-by-cartier-a Serials are close
What is really special about this example is the "screw-down case back" that was designed to look exactly like a snap-on case back.
The dials are intriguingly similar but it is IMHO impossible they ever remotely would have had a chance to pass Cartier quality control. Given the close serial and being the same reference I assume they are of the same batch. My conclusion is that this may have been a batch which was originally sold by Cartier but that by some kind of weird coincedence they were both redialled by the same, not overly talented, party.
Here you go: https://omegaforums.net/threads/opi...al-285-lecoultre-cartier-and-universal.15000/ So we have: 750.287 750.295 750.315 All (poor) redials but also all 3 Cartier.
And another. Unfortunately no serial: https://www.sothebys.com/en/auctions/ecatalogue/2010/important-watches-ge1004/lot.181.html Best dial so far.
