A oldskool belt sander, I’m done with batteries, or basically plastic tools. The craftman I just bought is built like a tank, I’ll use it a couple of times a year. So for 20 is awesome.

Been buying some tools lately for knife making and found out….

There is not a battery powered tool on the market not made in China.
Still a few electric cord drills made in Germany.

I bought a Metal saw

I always keep an eye on Craigslist for older Craftsman or such that were USA-made. I'm really not keen on Chinese tools.

Used DEWALT for a large part of my working life and never a problem, some of them may have been made in China given the global nature of the company.

When they were great tools 👍

Everything I have that still has a cord works like a treat.

In the professional environment a cord is seldom an option unless you want to lug around transformers. You look around most professional sites and DEWALT are by far the tool of choice.

How many hours do your cord tools actually operate ?

Yeah I had good old cordless in the day Stuart. Do use cordless still. But the quality of what you buy now compared to years ago has changed dramatically.

I was just pointing out I have 20-30+ year old corded power tools that still work great today and are better built than anything made today.
Being cyclone central in Darwin everyone has a mini generator 😉

Had a old dewalt drill that was great but it was cheaper to buy a new one than find a battery that would fit it. 12 years and I’m on my 3rd cordless drill and decided to go to Bosch this time.

Dewalt was the tool in the day I agree.
Dewalt, Makita are seen mostly nowadays in Australia.
Milwaukee has become big in the last few years with saturated marketing

Side story
At work I often saw a lot of tradesmen migrating to Australia from NewZealand and there were large tool boxes and what not at bonds like DHL. They would declare a high value on there tools and in result the duty could be up to several thousand $$.
Most just abandoned the tools as in their minds it made more sense to go out and buy $2k worth of new tools made in China than pay it on their old tools.
All these good tools would end up in customs auctions.

Got some finishing up to do but the gutted basement at the rental is 90% complete. Going over today or tomorrow put new lines on the washer and dryer and figure out why the left some outlets hanging
