@JimInOz look very closely at your new girls bike.........

The Difference Between Men and Women’s Bikes

If you’ve ever tried on clothes designed for the opposite gender, you know how subtly different our bodies actually are. Maybe you tried on men’s jeans as a woman and looked like you magically shrank from the thighs down. Or, maybe you tried on a woman’s shirt as a man and felt as though your shoulders were being vacuum-sealed.

The male and female bodies are very different structurally, and clothing items reflect these differences. Those same differences are the reason that there is a major difference between men and women’s bikes.

    Frame Structure
Not all men and women’s bikes are structurally different. However, many are, and that structural difference affects the top tube of the frame. The top tube is the part of the bicycle that connects the handlebars to the seat. If you’re riding the bike, it’s the bar between your legs.

On women’s bikes that are for more casual riding, this bar is slanted down towards the seat so that the bike is easier to mount. On men’s bikes, the bar is parallel to the ground.

Well after over 50 years of riding men's bikes (real men's bikes I might add), time and old injuries have taken their toll and it's hard to throw a leg over an Africa Twin, or a BMW1100RT etc so I'll happily take my little girl's bike out and about on a nice day to enjoy a relaxing ride.

And when the need for speed takes my fancy, I can hop on "Tannhäuser" and take him out for a quick flak on the freeway, and being another "step thru" I can get on without wrecking my back or my knees (again), and still enjoy riding.

(Down to my favourite cafe for a latte).

    :D

Recently bought some limited art prints from various artists for my white home office walls...:)
    This one is my favorite:
It's from a british artist called Imbue and the title is "butterfly effect".

Danner Mountain Light II. Best hiking boots evah. Highly recommend them. Though if you want something that's more for city-wear, or you live in a warmer climate, I'd recommend the Mountain Trail instead (which have a thinner and lighter sole).

    Large ammonite fossil...

Came from some corporate offices for an oil company that went out of business. Friend of mine got it from the people selling off the assets, along with a bunch of others. Mounted above our fireplace, along with some of our mineral samples:

Fits in pretty well I think...

Based on the posts above, I first thought it was a coin, then maybe a brake rotor. But now I'm stumped. Something to do with photography? Looks kind of like an iris.

Thanks Al. Very cool, and functional. My wife is a graphic designer and it might make a nice gift.

I also have that. I will say, as a peg wood sharpener (what I specifically bought it for - great minds think alike here Jim!), it's not ideal. It takes a lot longer to sharpen using this, when compared to using a knife. The upside is that is does contain the shavings much better...
