And speaking of something completely different...

In a sketch from Monty Python called Argument Clinic, a character played by Michael Palin goes to a facility and pays to have an argument with John Cleese. That argument was recreated for this video using a pair of old school speech synthesizers. Palin’s part is played by the DECTalk Express (aka the voice of Stephen Hawking) and Cleese’s part is played by the Intex Talker. As you can probably hear, the Talker predates the DECTalk by a few years and is more difficult to understand. (source: https://kottke.org/16/09/monty-pythons-argument-sketch-performed-by-two-vintage-speech-synthesizers)

“Now, you listen here, he’s not The Messiah, he’s just a very naughty boy!”

    “Now, go away!”

I start sniggering as soon as i see those words. Possibly the funniest film ever made?
I'm old enough to remember the original tv series. Sunday evenings iirc. Being only just into double figures, age-wise, i was fascinated by Carol Cleveland and the possibility of "naughty bits". You can see all the classic sketches on YouTube now (thankfully).

Here, Here.... big fan of TV series and Films.

"We use only the finest baby frogs, dew picked and flown from Iraq, cleansed in finest quality spring water, lightly killed, and then sealed in a succulent Swiss quintuple smooth treble cream milk chocolate envelope and lovingly frosted with glucose."

"WHAT is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?"

"And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out! Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

"Cheer up, Brian. You know what they say: some things in life are bad. They can really make you mad. Other things just make you swear and curse. When you're chewing on life's gristle, don't grumble; give a whistle, and this'll help things turn out for the best. And... always look on the bright side of life..."

We can always use a little Monty Python

Great song... Especially relatable now given the pandemic. Always gotta look on the bright side of life.

Thank you for the early morning laugh.

The Keeper of the Bridge of Death was tossed over the edge when Arthur asked him the very same question in the film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail. If only the Keeper had responded with your reply he’d still be on the bridge.
