    Saw this pop up on fleebay, and thought it is yet another fake dial Connie. Lo and behold, there is a pic of extract, and sure enough dial is listed as "Silvered with signature of Kim Il-Sung"

    I can say I never saw another Omega with any signature like this, especially one from North Korea. Watch was even delivered to North Korea according to the extract.

    Really strange piece, and kinda cool at the same time. Price is kinda crazy as well

    The source of the money that paid for the watch to be made makes me really uneasy. I understand that it's an unusual dial but the history of the DPRK makes any watch made for them about as desirable as some watch with a Pol Pot or Chiang Kai-shek signature. We need to remember history so it's not repeated but I don't think we should try and profit off it the horrific parts of it.

    I think there's a fine line to walk when it comes to that argument. Something can interest you without you admiring the people and circumstances surrounding it. That being said, this one doesn't interest me beyond being curious news.

    First negative North Korea thought and this Connie will take you out in 5 seconds.
    It's a reverse "Our Man Flint" reference.

    Congrats to the eventual buyer::puke::

    How does Chiang Kai-shek compare with Pol Pot or the DPRK?

    I like the question asked by the seller in the description: "will the value of this piece triple in 5 years?"

    Probably given to (or forced down the throat of) high party officials. I have never ventured into vintage Omega post 1970 - pre 1985 but I actually like the watch itself. Never really given the Connies of this era a lot of thought

    After they got to Taiwan martial law was abused a little bit in some cases... not quite the same level but not a saint either.

    Very interesting. Definite misgivings about owning something like this. I must admit, it it not tacky at all but sort of "classy".

    Already a nice looking Connie and the signature only makes it more interesting. I'd buy this if I had spare money to throw at it. :thumbsup:
