What should be an ideal small watch collection that covers the most iconic modern watches..
    Mine would consist the following;
    A Speedmaster hesalite Moonwatch
    A Rolex steel watch
    A Seiko diver watch
    A Reverso watch
A dress watch from the Holy Trinity or ALS
And one that you have most memorable moments with..

    What will be yours?

Interesting I would like to have a 3 piece collection:

    Omega moon watch
    Rolex Explorer 1
    JLC Reverso

    what I have now:

    Omega Moon watch
    Rolex Explorer 1
    Seiko SKx013
Vintage Omega bumper automatic ( by far my favourite watch)

What is missing is JLC reverso. It is a bit of a confusing one given the different model. One day if I have money I might swap my omega bumper automatic for a dress watch from the holy trinity. My list is not very different to yours.

    No independent brands?

?? Good question. What indépendant brand would you consider? Most of them are very expensive. Maybe Nomos is affordable and the next level H Moser and Parmigiani Fleurier are quite expensive.

You need a Tag or Heuer Monaco to cover the square dial sports watch.

with the recent McQueen Monaco sold for $2.2M, surprisingly vintage Monaco is still affordable-ish.

I tried to cover up that vacuum with a rectangular Reverso. Santos may also be a great choice for a square watch. Monaco appeared quite thick to meet everyone's taste, though it's an iconic watch indeed.

Not my cup of tea. I tried it but it looks too big for my wrist. I think the JLC reverso might cover that gap, but I have not tried it in person.
