AI pollution on the forum

It’s just a trickle at the moment, but it seems like AI bots are beginning to have a presence on this forum.
It’s possible that this comment is garden-variety human inanity. The fluent grammar, correct spelling, and chatty tone, in an otherwise brainless post, though, are hallmarks of AI. The watch in question does not have a blue dial and no one mentioned having a father who worked at IBM in the thread, but some other parroted details, such as the engraving, have been worked into the comment. Is it a bot, or did a real user feed the thread into Chat-GPT for whatever reason? I’d think it would be hard for a totally automated bot to create an account here. What’s going on?

Wow.. didn't think that would be happening in forums, but now that you point it out, it is suspicious.

Well spotted sir!

Just flag it if it looks odd. Checked that one and it’s clearly spam, what they do is they post something like that which looks normal. Then a month later they edit it and turn the post into spam for some product or service. As we find them we root them out and we’re getting a new toolkit to aid in that soon.

if you see something odd just report it and we can check it out.

Beyond the Forum, I've seen an increasing stream of "documentaries" on YouTube on a wide range of subjects, with narrations that are clearly AI-generated. On some, I believe just the voice is AI-generated as it parrots a human-prepared script, but on others, I think both the script and voice are AI-generated...it's these that can be non-sensical to the point of being comical.

Yup. As soon as I hear it, I’m gone. It’s very obvious.

Hi, what do you think of trinkets? If you are careful you can avoid buying fakes. As others have said, it is down to communication and using a bidet.

Is that really what the goal is? What a stupid way to try and advertise.

I am quite fond of gherkins, and find the fit to be excellent. Perhaps I can befriend Taylor Swift and my Cybertruck will finally be blue.

You bring up an interesting topic, and support your position impressively. On the other hand, there is more work to be done, and hopefully the forum members can collaborate in an effort to help prevent any future abuses.

What they’re trying to do is create back links for SEO to their sites by linking from here. What they don’t realise is that all links from OF are nofollow tagged so they get no benefit from it anyway, so even if they get the link up a month later, there’s zero benefit.

Reported...
Dude I’ve been reported many times, funniest was this guy who was trying to list his watch for sale in the vintage omega topic and when I removed him and told him to stop doing it after he reposted it a second time he went full sovereign citizen on me.

So he hits report and under reason “this person is forcing me into contract with him and denying my first amendment right to free speech”

then when I explained that reporting my message was not going to help and that if he posted the listing again I would have to ban the account he reported me again with the reason “blackmail, extortion and threats against me unless I do what this person wants”
