@bgrisso I believe there’s no single dealer out there who takes time to reflect the actual sales prices in sold listings. And why would they...?

perhaps, but I was thinking more the other direction, list it for 17k, sell it for 12k, leave the sale price at 17k
I was wondering the same thing. I've seen many P2P listings refer to Hodinkee sold prices to justify asking price. But I don't think it's that simple.

Private and more specific: 1 time only sellers do have a tendency to find the most expensive example of the watch they are selling to justify their asking price.

Fwiw I track for sale posts on forums like this and Rolex forums in addition to eBay auction final price (not buy it now) for a gauge on fair market value of a watch. Too many nuances in the watch itself or market for a single source of truth. Hopefully any first time sellers are paying attention!

i wonder if the listing prices are accurate record of the sale price or negotiable
As far as I can tell the Hodinkee listing price will be the selling price. It's a click add to basket and checkout type of operation, compared to other dealers with asking prices and "inquire now".

Strong result considering the condition of that dial. Do we know how many of these are out there?
To this point I have in my database:

3 examples (1 with serial) of 885101/03 (unlumed version)
8 examples (5 with serials) of 22704/3 (lumed version)

As well as:

4 examples (2 with serials) of 22703/3 ("Type C" with rotating bezel)

Thanks for sharing. One note about the 22703/3, the bezel is fixed and not rotating.

If you apply the German Tank Problem approach to the known serials, then for the 885103/03 and 22704/3 together you get a rough estimate of around 60-65 originally produced.

All of the 2270X seem to be in the same ballpark; they appear to have been limited runs for whatever reason.
