Hello folks,
I've been looking for a nice example 22704/3 for some time and am about to pick this one up. Wondering if any experts care to comment about it? I haven't found much info on these at all (mostly dealer listings and buried in a few threads on OF). Perhaps this thread might blossom into a good resource for the (imo) underappreciated Type B.
I'd like to get the Sala book to reference as well but can anyone confirm if it contains info pertaining to the 22704/3 ?
I have seen both the thick signed crown and thinner signed crown on these...wonder which is original? Also wondering if these were V72 or cal130? I see a different balance bridge on this one: https://wannabuyawatch.com/product/universal-geneve-ss-aero-compax-type-b-circa-early-1960s/
Thanks for any input!
Sorry for the low res

I've come across a tenth "Type B", and this one is especially interesting in several ways.
optiwatch on instagram has an example with no lume, the third of these that I've seen but the first to retain the reference and serial engravings on the caseback. What's more, his serial is one digit lower than mine, but a different and previously-unknown reference!
2358199 885101/03
2358200 22704/3
This is a little bit surprising as 8xxxxx references were generally subsequent to 227xx references. However, going by serial numbers that I have collected, the 22704/3 was the last of the 227xx before all references became six digits, so this may be an artifact of the transition.
Thanks to optiwatch for sharing!
i mostly reach for divers/tools in the summer so mine has been out of the rotation lately...but man do i ever love just looking at it
