Hi everyone, i'm new here, and am looking to buy a Seamaster watch around 1972 vintage.

I was hoping someone could offer an opinion or 2 on this one for sale on another site?

    https://www.chrono24.com.au/omega/seamaster--id11498927.htm

I really like the watch, and it's priced at around $700 US.

    Cheers everyone.

I am no expert , but I I think that the wear on the rotor is not a good sign.

Thanks Wagudc. What about the asking price, considering?

I'm not that right person to ask, but if pressed I would say that you could do better for that price.

You can do better for the price if you are patient and persistent. The aforementioned rotor wear probably indicates the watch needs a full service, which can easily bring your cost up to $1000. I don’t see any red flags from the photos you’ve provided otherwise.

Another question: do you particularly prefer this Seamaster Cosmic design? While I think the dial is nice, these are generally less collectible than earlier models from the 1950s and 1960s, many of which can be found at the same price level, and many of which have superior movements.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. I do really like the design, nice and simple, like me!
I was looking for a birth year watch to start off (1972). I've never had a nice watch, so my journey started with this one.

I think i'll keep looking as you have suggested.

Sellers description notes "Refurbished Original Dial ", usually just a sneaky way of saying the dial has been refinished, kills value of a vintage watch by 40-60%. I believe the case has also be "restored" as well.

Hang around here for a few months and be patient, the right watch will come along.
