Hi team,

I bought this a few years back, but it never really connected. Having recently found one of my grails (Mark II Speedy racing) I'm trying to salve my conscience with some sales. As gold prices are at record highs, I figured this'd be the first medium-value sale attempt. Please note this is NOT a sales post here as such, but let me know if I'm still bending any rules...

Runs well, not serviced under my care, haven't tried to open the front-loader (although some mug obviously has).

My questions are:

OM dial is solid gold... but is that automatically 18kt, or lesser grades?
Any guesses as to case and dial weight in grams?
(Answers to these will establish baseline scrap value).
It's obviously not a highly desirable piece, but any takers as to approximate value? (Yes, I've checked out C24 and eBay but very few of this spec, I've seen us$2500-3500 but reckon they're dreamin'...)
Finally, living in New Zealand the sales options are limited (I've bought heaps on eBay but never sold) but still keen on "best way to sell" advice. Including here.

Ultimately, the way I figure it, selling it even at current scrap price (not actually suggesting scrapping it!) would get my original stake back, and then some.

Cheers, and look forward to the collected wisdom!

Remove the strap and see if anything marked between the lugs. As it’s a 1 piece case. Need a watch maker to open it and see what’s marked on the inside of the back (take pictures)

Hard to tell dial condition with poor crystal, so would suggest replacing it (watch maker can get case reference number and order one from parts supplier).

Selling. That’s the problem. Might be easier to sell to a jeweller for quick, but lower cash price. Online sales sites in your location? But who knows will show up. Maybe honest buyer. Maybe not.

First time seller on eBay. Get some est. with tracking and insurance from local PO to properly price.

Can sell as is and let the buyer worry about repair etc.
