Hi everyone,

I'm new to vintage Omegas and read all your guides and browsed through the forums for a long time trying to qualify myself in making a good first purchase. Long time Omega fan, I currently wear my SMP 2018 almost every day but looking for something a bit dressier, so I'm considering bidding on this watch for auction.

It's a gold capped SMDV probably ref. 166.020 but the ad doesn't state, so that's my guess. From the 60's, automatic with manual wind, looking to cost approximately $800.

I am guessing it was relumed due to the white blobs which are also applied a bit sloppily. The 12 o'clock index looks a bit off to me, so I'm wondering if it's in fact been redialed. What do you guys think about the originality and state of this watch? Which movement would it have? Am I correct about the reference? Ballpark valuation? Any info is appreciated, since the auction house doesn't supply much and I'm resorting to guesswork.

I hope this thread is in compliance with your guidelines and is welcomed on the boards-- I'll accept any criticism and advice to this as well.

Thank you so much for your input!

I cant validate the authenticity of the watch without seeing the movement serial number and caseback ref., however, 800 is a big asking price for this watch i feel. I got my 69 SMDV for 430 through ebay. However, my SMDV didn't come with a signed buckle or crown. I got those after.
