Thinking bidding on this watch. Just wanted to check if everything was in order before I commit to buying it. Still waiting on the image of the crown and the caseback. Would greatly appreciate your thoughts on this re: dial, movement, etc and also what should be the maximum amount I should bid on it.

 

I'm definitely no expert, but that looks like a redial to me. The "A" in Omega looks misaligned and the "r" in Seamaster doesn't look like the other 562s that show up with a google search.

 

The dial is original and I suspect the crown is to. A side on view of the crown showing the old style logo will confirm.
A 562 movement is correct for this model and the serial no. is in the correct range. Others better qualified will be able to comment on the movement condition.

All looks original and correct. Assume movement needs a service unless the seller has evidence of a recent one.

Is it an auction or a fixed price listing? If fixed, what’s the price?
I’d say +/- £400 if head only and unserviced.

I wouldn't be surprised if it sells for more than 400gbp. It looks pretty nice and 562 is a very good movement. Pic shows a newish decent strap. May beat 600.

 

I’ve had a few of these and sold a couple of nice ones easily in $600-750 range in clean running but unserviced condition.

I would assume this is unserviced. I wouldn’t believe anything otherwise considering the seller is manhandling the movement without finger cots.

 

Movement is dirty and has lint on it. Gonna need a service no matter the history. Nice watch but factor in the cost.

 

£600+ for gold fill, unserviced and without a bracelet is a strong price in an open auction imo.

Good stainless steel ones, with a beads of rice can be found listed in fixed price sales for only a couple hundred more.

Or to out it another way, if I was searching for a gold fill DeVille without a bracelet and had the patience to wait for a few auctions, I wouldn’t expect to be paying £600+

 

I'm never quite sure what sellers want to achieve by showing us the movement which they hold with their bare, dirty fingers...

Perhaps my estimate is slightly on the shy side, the automaticSeamasters I listed for £400 last year, unserviced and head only did sell within a matter of hours, so perhaps £400 is a good price and a realistic figure (if the dial is good) is £400-500.

 

Don't forget: Your example was sold by, well, you - a known and trusted entity in the OF-waters.

 

I sold this gold capped SMDV on eBay 12 months ago and it fetched £931.
It’s nice and it had been serviced. - Strong price nonetheless.

 

I like the watch and i think if the auction is on ebay you can get it lower than 400 GBP. I sold this model a few years ago in a similar condition and from what i remeber i did not get more than 400 GBP (it was something near 350 GBP) . I think the personalisation from the back will be a minus for this watch.

 

It may put off some bidders. For me, it would be a plus if it helps keep the price down. These sorts of engravings don’t bother me at all.

 

Hello Guys, Found something similar that is not for auction. Can I get your thoughts on this as well? I actually prefer the no date.

 

Are you aware that’s the smaller 31mm version?

It’s in good condition but these small ones are much less sought after as they wear very small on modern wrists.
