Hello, I’m new to the forums. I’ve never owned a vintage watch before. I’m considering a watch I found, but I only want to buy it if it’s worth the money. Based on some research I’ve done here, I think it is a 2576. It has been serviced 6 months ago and I’ve seen a video of it running. I like the watch, but I’m worried about the condition of the case back. If i ever wanted to sell it, would anyone want it? What could it be worth cleaned up on a nice strap? Thanks for any help

We need better and more pictures for a real assessment of what you're being offered.
I'm not familiar with 2567 but the watch you've showed seems at least to be a redial.

 

Plus: I'm not sure what I'm looking at in the second picture, but that looks as if the case and lugs were badly overpolished.

Luke- if this is your first vintage Omega, avoid the noob tax and just pass on this one....that’s what I am gathering from the opinions so far.

This as an example, is about as fine an example of a sub-second Seamaster as you will find, from a veteran member, and it’s the rare larger version with the full 6 at the bottom and more modern sizing.

Stick around and do some reading- lots of threads on the vintage Seamaster’s (one of my fav’s), the early bumpers all the way to modern coax. Lots of history, lots of changes and details, lots of choices. Education is your best friend.

These watches are addictive- so many variants, over so many years...and in the grand scheme of collectible watches they are still a steal- but there are many pitfalls so be educated. Do find a local watchmaker who is sympathetic to vintage watches- do not take any watch you buy to your local jewelry store or mall watch shop.

You need much better pictures (in focus would be a start). The S in seamater seems a little high which screams redial- but it may not be- sharp pics would let us jusgenid the dial has been refinished or not. Case seems over polished (the lugs and case lines are rounded off and not crisp) and if it’s a gold plated watch- we need much better pictures to determine the condition of the plating (worn through etc). The pic of the back shows two very large spots that may be the crappy pics or horrible plate wear. If the later- it’s a goner.

Projects are fun if you have the skills to do it yourself. Otherwise they are money pits. I speak from experience.
