Advice on buying USED Seamaster Aqua Terra or similar

My daughter is looking to buy her fiance a pre-owned nice watch as a gift and really likes the look of the Seamaster Aqua Terra. In particular, she wants to find clean, simple silver watch and band with a black or dark blue face. She's seen them for $1,300 to $2,000 private sale and $2,500+ through dealers. She's checked Crown and Caliber, Chrono24, and Bobs Watches. She found that Omega will also do a complete service starting at $450.

Any tips on what to look for, other places to look, and/or things to do or not do? How much can she trust online descriptions? Any red flags?

Thanks for putting this thread up.
I bought my missus a 30mm Aqua Terra quartz last month and have now decided I want one too.
I'm looking for a 38.5mm quartz but I'm a bit puzzled about the timelines of different movements, colours, teak dials etc etc.
Grey or blue would be preferable.
I'm in the UK and have looked on Chrono, Ebay, nationwide dealers.
I'd prefer to buy one off a watch forum and would also prefer box and papers.
