Hi,

first time poster. I got my watch today, I know dial isn’t original. Is it worth sourcing an original? Does this add value?

Any advice/guidance appreciated.

Sure, if you can find an original dial in good condition, that would be great. Hands too. Go for it. The difference in value would be night and day. 👍

Finding an original dial in good shape will be like finding a hen’s teeth.

I hear you. I’ve seen this one but looks off from 18-28?!

Finding an original dial in good condition will be both very hard and likely pretty expensive. Probably 70%-80% of 2471's out there have been re-dialed so at any given moment there are many people looking and both willing and able to strike quickly if one pops up. That and the fact there are almost zero dials on the market at any one time makes it a pretty big ask.

Truly awful redial!
Thought so, thanks for the other info. Even if it says Swiss made at the bottom doesn’t mean it’s an original?

where do redials come from? Mine seems quite nice as it is.

It's really a distinction between something that might be appealing aesthetically to you vs. something that is appealing to a collector.

With these even more so than other vintage Omegas it's always better to buy a nice original than trying to upgrade something unattractive. But hey, if you like it, you like it.

For sure it will add value.

But not easy to find correct hands in NOS condition (pls inform me if they have additional ones aside from the one u need as I am also looking for some) and even way harder to find an original dial in acceptable condition (assume 600-800 Eur) and more or less impossible finding one in remarkable condition.

Do note that the movement in your watch is in relatively poor condition. It looks like all steel components have been refinished (poorly). Probably to remove rust.
