·Hi all,
I really need your help, as I cant progress any further in this case:
Since two years, I am searching for an Omega from around 1950 and my interest fell on the triple date models, caliber 381. Recently, I stumbled upon a model without moonphase, which I like a lot - but I am not sure about the authenticity. The seller is a businessman, which bought the watch as it is 15 years ago from a german watchmaker. When I saw the watch, I was hoping it would reveal a Caliber 380 on the inside, which it did not, unfortunately.
I saw a lot of Triple dates with caliber 381 or former 27DL PC AM in the web, and the remark that the caliber was produced by lemania. According to Omegas Caliber list, there was an Omega caliber 380 which was "non commercialisé", and had the title 27D PC AM without the L for Lunar.
As the watch is definitely a matter that is near my heart, I would ask you for your opinion on following points:
- How can i find out if this is the caliber 27D PC AM and not a "simple" 27DL PC AM without the moonphase complication (as it maybe broke and someone just removed it completely and used a new dial or the moonphase complication is still there and they just used another dial as they did not like the moon).
- What could be the reason that the number of the caliber is not indicated (381 or 380)?
Any other comment is welcome, too! I am looking forward to your support!
Best,
Leo
