I have received a Vintage Omega Seamaster Geneve cal 565 reportedly from 1968.

Please see photos, I cannot remove the caseback currently. Crystal has Omega logo, crown has some markings on but looks quite damaged, Lugs look to be damaged/overpolished.

what I am struggling with is the minute and second hands seem to be catching the 6 o'clock marker as its too close to the dial. If you push down on the crown all the hands/date window also move up and down.

Does anything stand out as very wrong other than its needs a service/repair?

All looks fine from the photos. I suggest you send it to your watch repairer and see what he says. If you don’t know how to open the watch don’t make things worse by trying to tinker.
