Wow, I am impressed at the results, though I might just be giddy at having an (almost) uninterrupted few minutes of a Sunday night for this operation.

I’m also impressed that the dollar store out here in the sticks sells a variety package of ten sheets of sandpaper, including 800-, 1200-, and 2000-grain sheets.

Something that just occurred to me as I was wiping up the excess Polywatch that I sloppily got on the strap. A lot of toothpaste has a bleaching agent in it that could discolor a strap. It doesn’t quite make sense to me that there’d be an ingredient like that in something that goes in your mouth, but my day job at a dry cleaner long ago taught me that toothpaste would ruin the color on fabric. Anyway, let’s be careful out there.

Nice job! Looks great. Glad you found the sandpaper in the grit you needed. As a fellow inhabiter of the Sticks, it has quite a few advantages…and the concomitant disadvantages at times as well. The advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. I’ll take my rural living lifestyle and travel to the city when I take the notion.

The toothpastes that advertise whitening contain a minute amount (<0.1%) of hydrogen peroxide. Safe to use on the teeth, but not on clothes (or straps).
