@DaveK ,

Please don’t discontinue Mark 1. Mark 2 May not work for smaller watches with tighter confines in the bow available for this new end. Also, winding the watch may or may not be so easy with all that leather in the bow. Certainly an 18-size would still be easy to wind. But have you tried the new method of attachment on a bar-over-crown case? Not a fan, sorry!

I like this V2 with smooth leather outward. Roughout has its' place, but not always. At least for me.

Did you ever source any Kangaroo or goat to give a sleeker design option?

Color options?

I couldn’t remember who wanted kangaroo. I can’t find it anywhere, same with goat. Still looking though! If you find some, send it my way!

Thx @Canuck! I do prefer v1 myself as well.

I mentioned in an earlier post that the @DaveK mark 2 mystery braid pocket watch lanyard may have its place, depending on the style of watch it will be fitted to. But likewise, the mark 1 lanyard is better suited to some pocket watches. I offered the opinion that a mark 2 lanyard would not be suitable for a bar-over-crown style case. I offer a picture of my Hamilton 950B in a model 2, bar-over-crown case with a mark 1 lanyard on it. Imagine if you will how you would fit a mark 2 lanyard to this style of pendant! As I see it, the mark 2 lanyard would be suitable primarily on an 18-size case with a round bow, and lots of room.

As mentioned by @Canuck, I think there's a need for both styles. The No2 looks a bit sleeker so maybe I need to dig one of my big bow pocket watches out and see if they go together.

The No1 with the Sam Browne studs is still my favourite though, perfectly suited to any GSTP model.

I'm getting a logo designed on Fivrr for my pocket watch lanyard side hustle! Since most people get one of these lanyards for their railroad approved watches (and I've been diagnosed with railroad nostalgia), I've drawn inspiration for the logo from the Grand Trunk Railroad's logo c1852.

I replaced the crest with the image of a leather hide - my lovely wife's idea 🥰. I think the words Your and Vintage need to move closer together, any feedback would be welcomed 🍿 When finished, I probably will give this a distressed look, and maybe a colour version as well

some distressed options

Now we have Feng Shui in the world of watches! I must admit though, that the green lanyard would be superb on a green gold watch! And the ox blood one on a rose gold watch. @DaveK , might you have one for my red & green Gucci pocket watch? (Kidding!)

The member who requested these three lanyards chose the colours very well, considering he is about 2000 miles away. That blue looks very much like the blue hands of his pocket watches. Some colourful confetti left over from punching holes. Made while wearing my DaveK cap.

How do you make the links Steve?
Do you have a punch or are they all cut by hand?

All cut by hand with leather scissors. Very relaxing process. Then I punch holes, 2 per link. The blue and red leather only needed two hammer strikes per hole. The green is thick and strong. Needed about a dozen strikes per hole. Maybe I’ll get pointers from Standy on how to sharpen my round punches. I typically strop them or once in a while use fine grit sandpaper to rub them sharp. The advantages of having these links, besides having both sides of the lanyard finished, is that you can add or remove links as needed for a customized length.

I've been enjoying leatherwork for a few years now. I don’t enjoy uncooperative tech, but am enjoying learning the ins and outs of online selling through Etsy, the interaction with buyers there, and especially interactions with forum members here. Recently something very fun happened when local Vancouver watchmaker Roldorf & Co agreed to carry my lanyards in their shop. It’s a very rewarding experience when you can get out of the Matrix and sell your wares face to face.

If you haven't listened to the podcast talking about Roldorf’s transition after a devastating fire, it is certainly worth the time, and certainly wonderful to see them thriving in their new location. https://open.substack.com/pub/thegreynato/p/227roldorf?utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web Of course, if you are in Vancouver check them out for new and used watches, great service and frequent lectures.

My visit to the shop on the weekend

Thanks to this great community for the encouragement 👍
