The Bullhead had not been serviced while in my possession, nor was there any indication of same from seller. Great job on the restoration and love the pics! I do still have that "renovated" pogue if you are interested in it for parts...

Thanks Paul, I'll put it in the queue for a service.
I think I'll pass on another Pogue at the moment, keep Ms JIO happy.

Are these any good, I have been proposed Seiko's for 250€ a piece and didn't know enough to take a plunge.
What is you opinion ?
Sorry for the crappy pics.

Without clear pictures, especially of the movement, I could not say.

The best photo of the late USAF Colonel Bill Pogue onboard Skylab-4 wearing the SEIKO 6139-5000, the first automatic chronograph in space...
👍

That's interesting. When you zoom in the chapter ring looks gold. The one that was auctioned has a white chapter ring.

This subject causes a lot of debate with the various opinions ranging from the chapter ring is yellow but strong direct sunlight faded it to pale lemon/white or the white was a later replacement as the ring is prone to locking up.Some collectors avoid white rings whilst others are more concerned with the quality of the dial hands and cases as yellow rings are not hard to source

philh makes a good point. However, these are one of the most Feiko Seikos out there, so be very careful what you buy.

I own 5 of these in various dial colors and years. I can absolutely attest that the yellow fades to a creamy off-white and the blue fades to a grey. Obviously the more vibrant the color the less time it's spent in the sun (and likely less wrist time) but honestly, I'm much more suspicious of a non-faded version as good examples are rare.

It's my understanding that Col Pogue wore his daily for many many years so it would make total sense that it faded to yellow from the time that photo was taken until it was sold.

Agreed. Avoid anything coming from the Philippines. Seems to be a Franken Factory that churns these out with horrible repop parts.
