Some data shows that enabling two factor thwarts 100% of automated attacks based on stolen lists and the like...

(Done via Google Authenticator app)

Awesome move @dsio and @Trev ! Thank you!

Fantastic! Any site that offers TFA, I enable it. And thanks for providing the authenticator app option…always my choice when offered.

This is very true, nothing is perfect, but this is an extremely strong method of defending your account.

The app option is definitely the gold standard, so anyone who does know how to use it should if they can as it offers the absolute best protection but for those that aren’t as tech savvy or have difficulty with phone apps the email approach is still a massive benefit.

I only use my MacBook Pro M1 Big Sur for Omega Forums, almost never on my phone.

I've activated email TFA and it works 👍.

Is there a TFA App option that will work on a laptop?

Edit: I found Zoho, appears to be the only one at the moment.

So the way the phone app works is you just install it and set it up and then any time you sign in on your Mac, you flip the app open on your phone and the code will be right there and it changes every 30 seconds or so, so the app isn’t for using OF on your phone it’s just a standalone means of getting that single use code

Thanks Ash. As soon as I get home I'll set it up.
I'm in Port Campbell for a week and I left my phone and wallet behind at home 😡🤬.

However, I've been able to survive with a credit card borrowed from Ms JiO, so all is not lost 😁.

Ugh … Thanks for doing this. At my age this requires more focus than while sucking down my first cup of joe. Having had my FB account emulated a few weeks ago, super creepy, I’m gonna do this.

Honestly I think you should implement a professional solution like Okta. Then we can start provisioning users on Azure AD and expand the services offered to email and custom sub domains. Perhaps resell office 365 subscriptions to pay for it.

Obviously they should move the forum onto a SaaS type service in the cloud which tied with mfa would reduce the attack surface while expanding the possibilities of additional services with increased security against external bad actors. This action would drive user retention and open possibilities for future monetization opportunities.

We’ve now made this mandatory for moderators and for a select group of people that may be a target, will be expanding it to dealers and frequent sellers / important people soon
