Hi everyone, Trev and I conducted an update in the last 24 hours two enable Two-Factor Authentication (TFA) as an option for members. Initially this is an opt in available for everyone but over time we will be enforcing it for specific groups that are at high risk of account theft by phishing, malware etc. Those groups will be: * Moderators * Dealers & High volume sellers * Well known / high profile members and VIPs * Eventually anyone wishing to use the FS section There are two options for TFA at present, the easiest for most is email, where a 6 digit code will be sent to you which you copy and paste into the field in the login screen. The second is a bit more secure and involves using an app like google Authenticator to handle the code. Once you are logged in on a device it will remember your login for a fairly long period of time so you won’t need to do it every time you visit the site and its fairly convenient for the added protection offered. To enable TFA, anyone can click on their profile in the top right of their browser and tap the Two-Factor Authentication button to enable it, the entire process takes about 30 seconds to set up.
We’re seeing a good number of people turning this on already about 30 or so in the first hour, we pay for a very high quality mail delivery service so it should be a very rapid process of receiving the confirmation email, within seconds for most people and isn’t much of a convenience for the safety it offers. We will likely be adding a symbol under user’s avatars to confirm whether someone has secured their account in this way in the not too distant future.
Nicely done. Email worked like a charm. Thanks to the admins for making this happen. Down with the scummy scambags.
It took me longer, well over a minute. Keep in mind I'm slow, it takes me two hours to watch "60 Minutes". Good job, guys!
Wow….do you guys still have a day job? This whole website thing is a real time and money suck! I don’t think I would have made it past “pick a domain name”….fuck it, this it too hard!
And am I really going to have to use those backup thingy's? I forget what you called 'em or where I saved 'em
You should be ok mate as long as you keep your email address but if you run into issues hit us up and we can try to help
I signed up for the email verification- which worked fine. But as I browse on my phone, whenever I got off the page and back on, it asked for the verification again-which could be a total PITA. Does the Google thing not do that?
