I don't need a day window, I don't need a date window, I don't even need a sweep hand counting down the seconds....

I like this guy. 👍

My only non-chronograph was my very first watch: a cheap Buler diver that I got when I was 7 or 8. My next two were a JLC 2-subdial chrono that I lost in 9th Grade and a Longines chrono that was stolen out of my gym locker in 11th or 12th Grade. No watch until I was 21 and only Seiko quartz chronos until about 10 years ago when I decided I deserved the Speedmaster that I'd really wanted instead of the JLC. (At the time, the JLC was maybe $100 and the Speedy about twice that but my dad thought I was too young for a $200 manual mechanical. All 3 of my first watches were bought in Switzerland when a dollar was worth more than 4 CHF.) The bracelet probably wouldn't have failed the way the flimsy JLC's did when I took off my jacket and just part of the bracelet fell out of my sleeve without the watch; but then it would probably have been the one stolen from my locker instead of the Longines a few years later, anyway.

I certainly don't need multi-dials that may or may not tell me anything at all.

Sorry guys, but there it is.

in addition, this is all you need to wear, waterproof.

I know most of you love them

Many of you post wonderful photos of them

But, multi-dial watches??? Who needs them???

I wear a watch to tell me the time. I prefer a mechanical watch because I love the engineering aspect, and I love the idea of an automatic, just because.........

But I don't need a day window, I don't need a date window, I don't even need a sweep hand counting down the seconds....

I certainly don't need multi-dials that may or may not tell me anything at all. Time may be precious but I really want a watch to tell me the (approximate) time, that is easy to read and that doesn't have multiple dials showing me goodness knows what!

I love the 40s, 50s and 60s models and the photos posted of them.

There I've said it!

I'll await the OF post advising me that I can either retire to a quiet room and make use of the loaded pistol on the desk or face being drummed out of the forum.

Sorry guys, but there it is.

Sorry for what? For having an opinion?

I like these two for the simple design. Have not seen the Rolex in the flesh yet but I bought it because of its clean simple design. I imagine every collector has or has had a simple three hander in their collection at some point.

I actually prefer watches with simple dials but for work it is handy having a date window, as I do a pretty poor job of keeping up with it on my own.
