While it is a lowish estimate, $37k seems a ridiculous sum. I think $10-20k is a fair price for these in today’s market?
The 37 was definitely an outlier, I think the true value of these in this kind of condition is likely around the 15-20 mark but they often don't hit that and I consider them somewhat undervalued at present overall, but then the same can be said for a lot of good Zeniths.

Not sure it was done by water.... water damage generally ruins the watch.... That one remains outstanding
I'll see the watch in person in 3 days.... so i'll keep you guys updated with detailed photos

Great 👍 Thanks in advance for that !

See 2 shots of the A386. The one on the left is mine. I confirm the case is unpolished, watch condition is really good.... good luck to the bidders.... it will be sold in a short while....

Thanks. And on top of that there'll be around 30% import fees to my country.... Think I'll pass 🤬

Wow, great pics 🥰 Thank you so much for posting 👍
And your example is really fantastic and with the Mk1 dial (what I personally prefer) 😲😲😲

I followed the auction online and was a bit confused, that Aurel stated it is a 1. Execution from 1969 ...
On the pic that @Frederic_gva posted you can see that the right side of the dial (around the 2 o´clock marker) is spotted. So may be that has also influenced the bidding a bit.

Thanks and sorry, I might have been a bit unprecise.
The one at Phillips is of course an Mk3, but these watches (as my Mk3 with Serial 923Dxxx) also exist with the 1. ex. dial aka "HA" dial with the "H" of "Chronograph" just over the "A" of "Automatic", which is not the case at the Phillips one. I just wanted to state that your (non Mk1) A386 has this earlier dial and that I like this cofiguration more than the other.
Thanks again for your great pics.

Good observation. I have a later serial 923dxxx and the H is not above the A (so mine is like the phillips one)

Oh i see. Mine is a mk2 produced on Q4 1969 according to Zenith archives. Serial is 707Dxxx

I don't think there is a precise rule about the dials. all of the A386 were made within a 18 months period, I guess dials versions were mixed up during the casing process... maybe @alphahandswatches or @LouS can confirm....

I think the thread is nearly done now and I want to say huge thanks to all who participated and shared their opinions / estimates and esp. @Frederic_gva for the brilliant pics that gave great insight in the lot.

I would be very happy when more A386 will come up for auction to discuss with you. Meanwhile I close with a pic of my A386 Mk1 bought from the original owner in Austria who states that this watch was bought directly from there first presentation in Januar 1969. GF is dated 4/68 and has an unsigned diver extension. So who knows ...

From your 1969 to my 1972, delivered between January and May, 1972 per Extract.

Beginning to End, a handsome pair.

Were you able to UV the watch, and also determine what caused the spotting, if not water? Thanks again for the update @Frederic_gva

hard to say.... tritium and the rest of the dial were flawless... i doubt water came in one day....

maybe a slight high humidity rate inside the case only... who knows....
