·Dear OF members,
After dwelling on it for some days I decided to post this beauty here, since I think many people would appreciate to see a model like this.
I am talking about a Seamaster Black Hobnail ref. 2771, caliber 344.
This watch used to belong to an old German Omega collector which passed away some years ago and I bought it last Friday at a watch fair in Germany.
Personally, I have never seen other hobnails in real life before this one and from what I gather, this configuration in black on a beefy lugs Seamaster is rather rare (I found two other examples online).
Needless to say, it looks amazing in all lights, but personally I love it when some natural light shines on it, showing all the character and texture of the dial.
Currently I didn’t have time to open it as I was busy with other watches this week, so I am not 100% sure about the reference, but after digging online I am pretty sure it is the 2771 (or 2765 - 4SC / 2764 / 2771). When I open the watch, I’ll post pictures of the movement.
Also, I am sorry about the quality of the pictures but it’s not the easiest to capture the beauty of this dial.
After keeping on the strap I bought it with for some days, I figured it looked waaay better on a vintage BOR, which I just fit on it yesterday.
I am very proud to be part of this very small community of hobnail dial owners 😀
