Too bad he’s not an AP guy....the T’challa testicle watch would have been right up his alley......I vote a nice book!
I believe that the clocks in general are legit, as I've seen them in reputable stores. I didn't really look at that website, I just linked where I found the image. Thanks for pointing it out and lesson-learned.
Thanks for the great gift ideas! I like the thought of a book, although the $18 hat is tempting. The only book mentioned so far seems to be $300 and that is not what I had in mind. My friend likes sport watches, so that is the Rolex book I'll find for him. Please jump in if you have a recommendation and thank you all very much for your kind help!!! Dennis would have roasted me.
Here's a story about keychains and conspicuous consumption. Names changed because I forget. Many years ago I was shopping for Christmas gifts at Nordstrom. I noticed 4-5 middle-aged guys in line at a register. All but one had visible Ferrari keychains, Pebble Beach sweaters, etc. The sales clerk was validating a check from the lone un-adorned guy in front in a t-shirt. "Why Mr. Smith," she exclaimed, "I see you live on Smith Road. Did they name it after you, ha ha?" "Well, yes, they did," he replied. Game, set, match.
A vintage fountain pen - like a parker 51 aerometric would be nice - should be able to pick a balck or burgundy pen up for 50-80$ ( and maybe cheaper in antique malls) and 99/100 it will work just fine after a few flushes of water
Knowing you Aussies Jim, your number one most important medical contact is probably "Planned Parenthood"! Anyway, thanks to everybody a plan is coming together. I'm thinking a break time kit for the office, a rolex mug, spoon and coffee table book. Not a pretentious kit but one that shows a little thought and effort. Again, thanks to all of you!
A book is a great option. Alternatively maybe a Rubber B or Everest strap that goes with your buddy’s sports model could be another great option.
Maybe a leather watch pouch from Everest in Rolex green. I just ordered a couple of these for travel. Haven't received them yet, but thety appear to be high quality at a reasonable price ($65).
