A Speedmaster to call my own… finally!

We’ll folks, I’m proud as punch to say that I’m loving my new Speedmaster. I’ve been in awe of this watch for years, and finally made the purchase on 31st January - just before the price increases, saving a hypothetical 11.73% over the course of a day after a bit of discount from my local AD was thrown in for good measure!

I decided on the sapphire sandwich as it will be worn as my day to day watch. The stepped dial, applied logo, DON and new bracelet were deciding factors, plus it’s going to be a very special year so wanted something just as special to mark the occasion.

Two things surprised me though; even after trying it on numerous times before purchase, the watch now seems very small. I put this down to obsessing over it online and zooming in to look at every minuscule detail on large screens. The other is how shiny the movement is - wow, it really does dazzle!

Anyway, the purpose of this post is to say thanks to every forum member for their help and expertise. I’ve been using the knowledge and advice shared here and even asked a few questions along the way, all which has been really useful. I now know what everyone else knew all along… owning this brand of watch is just amazing - I really am so thrilled to say this particular Speedmaster is mine, and will certainly enjoy wearing it immensely.

Beautiful!

A watch you can wear every day for every occasion, and manual winding really helps build a bond.

I, like you, learned a lot on OF and applied that knowledge when I purchased the Speedmaster I always wanted. Congratulations on obtaining that beautiful watch.

I have an Apollo 11 50th Anniversary which I love, but I don't wear it often. One of these days I'll get "regular" Speedmaster for every day wear. I really like the black and white contrast. Easier for my old eyes to see.

Congratulations. Good choice. The Speedmaster remains one of the most significant and useful watches ever. Great daily companion. Enjoy it.

We’ll actually… I’m also a fan of this beauty that I tried on at the AD, so it’s definitely on the wish list!

I think I’m a fan of dateless watches, both in terms of not having a date window, and not being immediately date-able in terms of age!

I'm with you.
I prefer a date-less dial but it wouldn't stop me.
