This event was apparently not truly pretentious or snobby. 😁

Nah. With people you have have worked with, and sometimes against, for most of your life any pretentiousness attracts a lot of pointing and laughing.

Entertaining read, but I don't fully agree. So, what kinda grade do you give this one?

Grade: C-
A black strap would really bring out the black in the bezel. The gray just mutes everything. At least it's not leather!

I definitely don't agree with all of your rules but amazingly, some of mine conform. How about these?

Grade: B
Not bad, though I could nitpick some of the details. I take issue with the color of the Speedmaster strap. The goal is to complement the dial color, not contrast it. A Speedmaster, therefore, goes on a black strap. Always

Have I broken any rules?

Oof, wrong on all counts, I'm afraid. What's with that Seamaster strap? Are you trying to scare the fish away?

Perfect, just what I was after and they said I'd be in jail by now.

Here I am breaking all the rules again, I guess it's jail for me too.
How does this one go?

This is a very interesting thread to me, as someone who has never been able to bring myself to wearing any watch unless it's on a metal bracelet, and preferably the original to the watch. I was about to, and will post a new thread on how youse guys/gals became sophisticated enough to wear watches on leather straps. Hopefully I can learn to like that.

I am with you on all points. Grade A

On the other hand, @bradurani, who died and made you Elvis? You’re saying one shouldn’t wear brown leather or a fun striped NATO on their Speedmaster?

You must 🤮when scrolling through the WRUW thread!

Despite not following any of the rules, I actually really like this. White is usually the color of flaccid non-commitment, but here you've paired it unconventionally with a category defying watch in a way that highlights the watch's best qualities. The danger is people will imitate it, poorly, leading to all kinds of atrocities, hence the minus.

You've correctly interpreted the spirit of this thread and equated my taste with Joan Rivers', which I deserve 😀

I bow my head in awe. You are the king of back-handed compliments.

Correct, this is the only Speedmaster Professional strap that doesn't make me 🤮

This is one of my favorite pairings, but I'm worried about the rules.

I love this thread. My dad was a bit like @bradurani, totally confident and unwavering in his strong opinion but usually tongue in check. He is absolutely correct about those horrid two-stitch abominations, but I think @X350 XJR has broken all the rules in just the right way.

Horizontal stitches at the top break the directional visual flow of the strap and distract from the watch. The color is wrong too. You're close to matching the lume color, but not close enough, and the result is disjointing.
