Love the 3861 bracelet but I got the urge to put a strap on the Speedy. One of my new ones. Comfy single pass with summer vibes. What say ye oh pretentious strap master?
Are you an Indian Chief? If so, Grade: A+. Otherwise, Grade: F
You got that from cheapestnatostraps.com, didn't you? A $6 strap on your $4,000 watch? Thought maybe a bit of blue would brighten things up a bit? Make you fall back in love with your plain old Speedy?
Grade: F
I picked up two guaranteed A+ straps today.
The Irish flag (I had it hand made )
The boring but super comfortable rubber.
I really need these A's to bring my grade point average up.
I appreciate you celebrating your Irish heritage.
If you wear it on St. Patrick's Day, Grade: A-
Otherwise, Grade: F-
The minus is because a deployant buckle is never as good as a plain old pin buckle.
Concerning the rubber,
Grade: F-
Rubber straps are for divers, not racing chronographs. Put that on a Seamaster, or even a Seamaster chronograph and you're at A-.
Again, the minus is because of the deployant buckle.
Ok strap experts, I’m trying to redeem myself (https://omegaforums.net/threads/a-p...-choosing-a-strap.154166/page-14#post-2181289), and want to know which (if either) would be acceptable on my vintage Seamaster (first picture). I’m looking for something flat and brown. I believe the rules state I should go for dark brown, but something about the lighter attracts me.
What do you think?
(The second strap has a gold buckle which I would obviously change.)

Okay Brad, here is one for ya. This is my wildest strap. 1969 Eterna-matic 1000 on a dark green croc strap.
*Sigh*, collecting is a journey of discovery. We make mistakes, learn and improve. I've done it too, buying a boring a watch from an otherwise good brand, deluding ourselves into thinking we'll like it, all the while knowing inside we won't. These can be expensive lessons, but nothing good ever comes cheap. Sadly, throwing good money after bad on a bold and colorful strap to try and make a boring watch interesting is just compounding your failure. Sell and cut your loses and repurpose that strap as a choker for the American Girl doll you keep in the pit you dug in your basement.
OK, let's see how I have managed...
Other watches stick to the bracelet, although Speedmaster sometimes goes with a racing strap.
Racing straps are from Bulang&Sons, Cream Saffiano is Molequin, and brown Japanese is Kurono.
