It’s been a while since I’ve posted here but here goes …Over the Christmas period we decided to a 4 day trip to Geneva to take in the sights and visit the Omega museum in Biel, I have to say is if you haven’t already visited the museum this is a must the watches on display are just jaw dropping .
Not long into our holiday I get the urge to start window shopping as you do not that I need anymore watches when I’m trying to reduce my collection to a handful I ended up with these three.
First purchase was this lovely Anakin Skywalker 145.023 up next British military 2777-1 and last but not least this love Seamaster 300 Heritage this if I’m honest was a late Christmas present from my partner and daughter.

Gee you could call that a complete collection. What was it like leaving Switzerland with the watches does customs or the equivalent make it difficult with fees? I only ask as I read on a watch blog someone went into Switzerland with a watch roll and they had to end up paying a lot of money on the way out as it was assumed they bought them all while in Switzerland.

I don’t know how all that works and I read that article a while back so I forget the specifics.

Its quite simple:
Switzerland = non EU
So if you are an EU citizen and you cross the boarder to an EU country you have to pay import VAT (for example Germany 19%, Austria 20%, Italy 22%), customs charges can be neglected as they are very low.
It all depends if you are tax honest or not... if you try to smuggle and you are caught than the watches will be confiscated and you have to pay a fine likely as high as the value of the watches plus the import tax (VAT) you have tried to evade on top of that...
So be aware there is risk if you are not tax honest!

If you are a non EU citizen you carry the watches as a transit passenger and you will have to declare the watches when you cross the boarder to your home country. If you have to pay import taxes/customs charges it will depend on the regulations in your home country.

darn! i was just in switzerland last sept.! but, my "real" interest in watches began after that.
