Whilst in town today looking at furniture (yawn) I thought I'd pop into a shiny shop to have a mooch. Unfortunately the Mrs cane in with me, but then decided she wanted to have a look at a few pieces herself, as well as the ones that I was looking at.

The nice, and very knowledgeable lady in the shop, then presented us with a tray of goodies to peruse!!

Oh...and free choccies as well! [emoji51]

Now, suddenly, a certain someone wants a watch for her birthday. [emoji15][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

At least she's on your side when you consider any future purchases ;)

Get one with at least a modicum of water resistance.

That'll take away a lot of guilt on your next purchase!

I got my wife the small quartz AT, and she loves it. It's compact, tough as nails, and she doesn't have to mess with resetting it all the time, since she doesn't wear it every day (and doesn't care about it being fully mechanical.) Good luck!

    Eve Moneypenny approves! :)

All of the Omegas looked at have at least 30m of WR, which is plenty for pretty much anyone unless you decide to go diving or snorkeling with it.

In that case, I suggest the Aqua Terra.

Do not ever, ever let the significant other look at a catalog/website. Likely to find something not usually stocked, but a bit more expensive. Might end up with a collection of jewels.

Women can be funny about money and watches. For instance, if I say to my wife, "Look, honey, this watch I bought a few years back has appreciated to where it's worth $10,000!" She'll say, "How much did you pay for it?" Then I say, "$5500." Then she'll say, "Are you out of your FREAKIN' mind?!"

I avoid telling the wife about any increase in price. Because she will know how much it will sell for if money is tight.

I simply avoid wives. Sometimes the obvious solution is the best. :whistling:

Mrs Standy picked her own, found it was a older model. Spent weeks online looking for one, reaching out to multiple dealers.( and multiple is a understatement ) Found one exactly the same as the one she missed and bought it a few months later.
Happily a one watch owner now she has her Grail.
She even thinks I need a Brietling now.

Asks what watch they are they wearing nightly on TV shows or movies. Shows me watches that pop up on eBay whilst she is looking at other stuff, ( you know those eBay sellers that have one watch amongst 200 pieces of gardening stuff ). Happy for me to have a GTG when we are overseas and even sets a schedule so I can.
Still to this day she mentions how nice it was for @Northernman to hook us up with a good hotel and advice on things to do in Denmark.

luckily, Mrs Fritz has taken a shine to railroad grade wrist watches... its cost me two Bulovas and a Longines thus far but she's left my Omegas alone as the faces aren't so nice and clear.

Well, here's something dorky. A few years ago, I thought I "needed" a SubDate, and I figured that I'd fund it by eventually selling my beloved AT. Well, I decided to buy my wife the same AT when I ordered the Sub, since she liked the look of my watch so much...but I ended up keeping my AT and selling the Sub.

So, now we wear the same watch, which is a bit embarrassing! :D
