I’ve come across this specific example of a dogleg Constellation multiple times in the last few days. It seems to have been offered first on „eBay Kleinanzeigen“, a German online marketplace, for a very reasonable 1150€. Here’s the link to the ad, it’s on „reserved“: https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s...ampaign=socialbuttons&utm_content=app_android Three people reached out to me and asked for my opinion. Then, someone kindly messaged me on Instagram and forwarded an offer (with further pictures), as he thought I might be interested in it’s „hobnail“ structure. It appears to me like the watch is making its way through owners quickly, and I think it’s a good example to be discussed here and raise awareness. For now, I won’t comment any further but leave you with the pictures. To anyone who might be on the hunt for a dogleg Connie, feel free to try your knowledge. Can you find anything wrong with it?
T dial but no lume on the hands? Is there any on the markers? I can't tell from the photos. The date window looks wonky. Shouldn't it also have a cal 551, or did it also come with a date version that I'm not seeing listed anywhere?
Let’s see if I have learned anything during the last few months. No lume on either the hands or the dial, but it says otherwise at the bottom follow the dial. Service rotor? Doesn’t seem to pass the MOY test. The regulator is set all the way on the left side, meaning the watch was running fast for some reason.
Also, I think it’s supposed to have a short hour marker at 3 o’clock. Or, at least I would have expected the crosshair to go all the way to the end.
Glad to see how quickly this was shot down. Makes one proud to see how educated the membership has become over the years.
Since this thread has an educational purpose, I would just like to comment, the lines on the case are all over the place. The dog leg lugs are very thick, not parallel to each other, the bezel looks also very off. It looks as though somebody tried to fake it really and it is just rough. As I happen to be wearing my 14902 right now (different caseback though). Some pics to make my point. I don't think any further word on the dial is necessary. However... if I am not mistaken, Matt mentioned once to me hobnail dials are only to be found on bumper movements...
Dealers running the ol' Pump and Dump........better have a seat when the music stops.....knowledge R good.
